Darkness is an all consuming thing, for one young woman it was more then just that. She had spent so many years in this place, the pulse of the darkness was a living thing within her own mind. Her eyes remained closed as she leaned with her head resting on one of the Corridor's walls. Her breath rushing from her as she remembered the past. The thoughts whirling through her mind, as her mind entered an odd state of peace. No one knew who she was, not even the people sitting behind their screens and reading the story at this moment. This young woman was a face forgotten by the time of history. The story of her was one that many would never even hear.

This is a story based many years after the end of the fight against Darkness. Many years after Riku and Sora and Kairi had returned to Destiny Islands. Those that are forgotten, are often those overlooked easily. This young woman was one of those, a facet of time forgotten and abandoned. Someone lost in the darkness, with no true hope of redemption. She was lost, with only a shard of light to lead her way. Her own body failing her at times. Yet deep in her heart, the only thing she wanted, was to return to the place she called home. That Island, a seren place of Light and Joy. A place that she had not seen since the day she had been ripped from it at thirteen. As a teen, surviving on your own was hard, especially in a world fraught with war and dangers. But she had survived, but she had also changed.

She would never been that innocent young thing again. She would never be the sweet and naive little thing she had been back in the old days. Even though someone might recognize who she was, could they accept what she had become? Especially considering most of them didn't even know she existed. Sure, she remembered a few instances, of the people on the island, all of the interactions she had growing up. Some stuck out in her mind, more then others. The harassment she got from Tidus and Wakka, the rescues that Riku and Sora had performed to keep the small silver haired girl from being picked on too much. But in all those years, did any of them even know her name? Not that she personally knew of. She didn't even think that any of them would remember who she was.

And despite all that, throughout all this, she had remained with that image of him in her mind. He had changed just as much as her. Thanks to her heartless, she was able to have an image of the older Riku, someone who had matured. Someone who had been lost in the darkness like she had. But even then, not even the Corridors of darkness dared to utter her name. It was as if history itself wanted her gone. The young woman knew not why, and part of her wondered why she had not perished before this.  The darkness blended with her, but at the same time it avoided her. No matter where she went, there was nowhere to call home.

Perhaps in time, she could find redemption, or she would die before that ever happened. The pain built in her chest, as she found herself curling up the body wracking cough raced through her. Her eyes closing as the tears flowed. She clutched her seashell locket, clinging to her shard of light and trying to control the pain. There was razor sharp claws of pain, ripping deep in her chest, the wracking coughs caused blood to splatter the ground, as she went to her knees. Her pants scraping the ground as she coughed harder. This was her fate, the fate of a forgotten one. The fate of one who was damaged, and the fate of one created artificially. Perhaps true happiness wasn't her future. Perhaps she would die in pain, and sorrow. Perhaps she would never reach redemption.

Finally, as time passed, she felt the spasms stop. She wiped the blood from her face and returned to her cubby. Pulling out some food, and eating in silence. They say that loneliness leads to insanity, perhaps she was already well on her way. She heard so many voices, most days it was hard to think. She wanted to be just who she had been, before all of this started. She wanted to go back to being normal. She shook hard, as she remembered the past. Her hand pressing to her head, she had been going through this for so long. This cycle of pain, and awakening. The darkness rising and falling, ebbing in her mind. Her breath rushed from her as she tilted her head back.

Mei, that was her name. She wasn't like the others in this pitiful world. No, she shouldn't think like that. She couldn't think like that. That was the pathway of Jenova, that was the pathway she could never fall to. They would be ashamed of her, Sora and Riku and Kairi, they would be ashamed if she fell so easily. But she had been fighting so long, she was so tired. The pain in her chest was enough to make her cry tears of blood, rivers that flowed as red as the blood that she had rained worlds with. She was a monster, that's what she truly believed. Her breathing evened out as she slowly stood up. Her hand braced on the wall as she walked from her hidden cubby. Her footsteps light, and almost silent.

Something was in the corridors, something, someone. She wasn't sure what. But she could smell the harsh scent of the sea. The scent from her memories. Her body drew her, without her minds permission, towards that scent. Following it like a child would the scent of a sweet baked treat. Her body was aching, some sort of new awakening, that she probably could never understand. Her hands gripped at her sides, as she slowly walked towards the scent, crouched low and ready to attack. Then she stopped, her heart leaping in her chest. The darkness around her seemed pale and fading, the male before her was causing her whole body to flush. But time had tempered her reactions to things. She slowly stepped out from around the corner. Staring at the male that stood in the edge of the portal, from Destiny Islands.

"What are you doing here. These are the Corridor's of Darkness. No mortal mind can be here without being twisted." The female said as she stared at the lean form of the silver haired male. Her head tilted back as she focused on him, allowing herself a little bravado. "The Darkness whispers, that you were once part of it's world. But that is common knowledge to those that walk these paths. You are the Twilight walker. You are Riku of the Keyblade." She said softly.
